JAACD Update

I recently posted some updates to JAACD's websites.  Some of you may be interested in the new movie "V For Vendetta", and JAACD's new press release had some interesting remarks on it.

or visit the homepage at http://www.jews4fairness.org/

I just found this pretty interesting, as I do most of the stuff posted on this site.

Against All Odds: In Search of a Miracle

Ok all, check out http://www.againstalloddstv.com, and check out the latest site to cranked out by my factory here.  In spite of the setbacks and delays we had, and thanks to the contributions of a few different people (Grant, his friend Blake, and some of the people he works with, Garcea, and myself), we are finally going live with the official site of this awesome 13 part television series.  Minor details will need to be updated, and I plan on throwing in a few more pictures, and touching up some things.  But check out this project because I'm glad it's finally in it's final stages.

Why did God create a world he knew would fall?

I sort of posted this before, but this is the full text.  I originally wrote this for connectinchrist.org, which will be a very helpful website and a place for Christian encouragement... but until we finish that site, I figured I'd just stick this here for now:

We have certain characteristics that we assume about God. We believe that God is all good, loving, perfect, and completely sovereign. This however raises a very confusing theological question. If God truly does have these traits, how could he have created a world that would fall? How could his creation eventually include evil? This is a question that hangs up many intellectual non-believers. Problems such as this become reasons for the rejection of Christianity.

I contend that in reality, God created a world far superior to one that would not have fallen. God actually did better to create a world that would fall. He didn't make a mistake, and he is all good, perfect, and sovereign. My answer is as follows: There is a classic analogy describing the value of things we may take for granted that I apply to this problem. Consider two different people for a moment. One person is wandering in the desert day after day with no food or water. A second man sits comfortably in his home and goes to get a glass of water from his sink whenever he pleases. If we put them side by side, and offer them a glass of water, to which one would the glass of water be more valuable? To which one would it taste better and be sweeter? Obviously the person from the desert would appreciate it far more.

If the world had not fallen it would be missing one of the basic and most important aspects of Christianity that our world has. It would know nothing of redemption. Like the man in his apartment who gets water when he wants it, so we would forever just be in a good world. We would never know the sweet redemption in that single glass of water we may drink after wandering in the desert. Let's remember that all of our beliefs, our entire reality, the entire Bible is about a fallen creation being redeemed. God's plan is greater, and more glorifying than unappreciated constant perfection.

Jesus expresses this train of thought in his parables when He talks of the redemption of the lost. The perfect example is the prodigal son, and so are his explinations of "more sin, more forgiveness." We also see the practical reality of these analogies in our world and in our lives.

Ultimately, a redeemed world is sweeter. I know I appreciate the salvation that I don't at all deserve. How much more do I appreciate God than if I had never needed his redemption. If you would like to talk about this further contact me at jtodd@connectinchrist.org
